Information
Christiansborg Palace is shaped by centuries of Danish history, but it is also a working palace where new chapters are continuously being written. The challenge was to find the right balance between the two: honouring its history while keeping Christiansborg firmly rooted in the present. We developed the brand position History happens here, shifting the perspective from history as something to look back on to something that continues to unfold. This became the foundation for a visual identity that draws directly from Christiansborg’s history and architecture, translating both into a contemporary visual language. At its centre is a new crown, inspired by Christian V’s crown from 1671 and redrawn with a simpler, more precise expression. The custom serif typeface follows the same principle, drawing distinctive details from the ornamentation and neoclassical interiors of the palace. Together, they turn historical references into contemporary design elements with a character specific to Christiansborg. The result is an identity rooted in more than 800 years of history, while reflecting Christiansborg as it exists today — an active palace where history continues to unfold.
